A MUM from Mayland has power-walked more than 2,000 miles for various events over 11 years.

Lucy Cummins, 50, has smashed her goal of power-walking 2,000 event miles, with many more covered during training.

Throughout the past 11 years Lucy has taken part in dozens of events across the world, including the London to Brighton 100k plus many more, ranging from 10k to 100k, including 40 marathons.

The mum-of-three takes on most of her events for Walk The Walk, a breast cancer charity. She has been known to wear a variety of unique bras during the events to raise awareness of breast cancer.

She has also competed events for Great Ormond Street Hospital and the Motor Neurone Disease Association.

Lucy said: “My first 1,000 miles took me nine and a half years.

“The second 1,000 just over three years.

“I have no idea how many miles I’ve covered in training.

“Most events are for Walk The Walk a breast cancer charity, a cause close to my heart as I recently lost my sister and several friends to breast cancer, and I know lots of survivors.

“It’s the thought of how others fight and fought that motivates me to train in all weathers at all times of the day, the additional classes I do during the week maintain fitness, strength and aid recovery time.”

Lucy’s training and events are juggled with work at Tesco and home life.

Lucy additionally won Pride of Essex in 2015.

She has further events planned for this year, including half marathons, marathons and ultra-marathons.

She added: “I am very lucky to have an amazing family and friends that support me and have helped me raise approximately £30,000 in almost 13 years.”
