A DEVELOPER is attempting to change the terms of its planning permission for 100 homes.

Residents and councillors are angry with the changes which it is claimed will have a greater impact on neighbouring properties than the original plans.

Developer David Wilson Homes has outline planning permission to build new housing off Oak Road, Halstead.

The proposals will see four blocks of flats and three semi-detached houses built on Conies field.

A total of 30 per cent of the homes will be made available to social housing tenants and allotments will also be built on the site.

David Wilson Homes unveiled its initial plans for the development back in August.

A statement read out on behalf of residents Mr Bishops and Mr Sweeting during a meeting of Halstead Town Council on Monday said: “The proposed layout now differs from that shown at a public meeting and a Halstead Town meeting both held on August 14.

“The configuration of the allotment site and proposed buildings near Conies farm and Conies cottage has been changed to the detriment of these properties.

“A block of four flats and three semi-detached houses are now very close to the boundary of the site and our properties.

“We would suggest this new plan be seen as an invasion of privacy.”

Other concerns raised during the meeting included access to the proposed site, the removal of vegetation in the area and the placing of homes set aside for affordable housing.

Town councillor Jackie Pell added: “In principle we have no objections to the development but we would would appreciate the developer working with the above concerns.”

Concerns have been raised further changes could follow.

David Wilson Homes was contacted for comment but none was received.
