HALSTEAD Town Council remains on course to move into its new home at the beginning of November.

The authority will be moving into Queens Hall, on Brooms Hill, once contractors finish work on October 31.

The town council are currently renting Townsford Mill but have been told they must leave the site by March 2018 after it was sold to a private investor.

Queens Hall underwent a month-long renovation in the summer to bring the community facilities inside up to 21st century standards.

The £61,000 refurbishment means it now has a new heating system, new kitchen, modern blinds and re-varnished floor.

The community section of the hall reopened to the public on September 2 and it looks likely the rest of the work inside the building will be complete and ready for the town council in just two weeks time.

Town clerk Sarah Greatorex said: "Work is going really well and contractors will be out by the 31st.

"We are aiming to move into the new offices later that week.

"The hall part has been very successful so far and people have been enjoying it.

"Our new offices will be very modern and we are all really looking forward to moving in."
