A KILLER comedy line-up has been announced to perform at the Empire Theatre.

Simon Evans is set to headline the night, supported by Mark Dolan, Nick Wilty and Karen Bayley.

After hugely popular events last night, comedy is returning in the first week of October.

Simon Evans is a dapper gent with general dislike for the Welsh. And northerners. In fact anything that isn’t his stately manor.

But he isn’t one sided, as he’s more than happy to rip into himself at the first opportunity.

He has headlined every decent comedy club in the country over the course of his 15 years and counting career.

He is a principal writer for Lee Mack’s sitcom Not Going Out, the panel show 8 Out Of 10 Cats, and Armando Ianucci’s Charm Offensive on Radio 4.

He has also written jokes for Lee Mack, Dara O’Briain and Sean Lock.

Mark Dolan is a comedian, writer and TV presenter. Most recently he fronted a brand new series lampooning the world of ads, in Channel 4’s Mad Bad Ad Show.

This followed three series of the hugely popular Channel 4 documentary series, The World’s…and Me, which featured the world’s smallest, tallest and hairiest people, as well as the most surgically enhanced woman.

Mark is also the host of the iconic Channel 4 comedy show Balls of Steel, which still airs nightly on 4 Music. Mark launched both E4 and More 4 respectively as host of the comedy show Show Me The Funny and as anchor of the late night topical talk show The Last Word.

Nick has won several awards, including the Polo Mint Comedy Award, voted by fellow comedians and club owners in England, and Best International Act in San Francisco.

The first ever female winner of the prestigious Comedy Store King Gong award, Karen was also a BBC New Comedy Awards Showcase final and Babycham Funny Women finalist, all when launching onto the UK comedy circuit in 2003.

The evening is set for October 7.
