A TEAM of talented young football stars are set to look the real deal thanks to a donation from a local care home.

Halstead Town Football Club's under 12s team have been given a brand spanking new kit thanks to Cone View Care Home, on Dame Mary Walk in Halstead.

The care home, which is run by Care UK, have agreed to sponsor the team and have provided 14 new tops for the team of 11 and 12 year olds who met with residents at the care home to collect them.

Omar Taylor, home manager at Colne View, said: “It is important for us to create strong links with the Halstead community, as it is a great way of helping residents experience the local area both in the care home, and on regular trips into the town.

“We thought it would be a great idea to support a local sports team, as keeping active at any age is very important and it has built some really nice intergenerational relationships between residents and the children."

David Press, manager of the Halstead Town youth team, said: “We were delighted to receive the sponsorship from Care UK and the new kits look great. The team looks so professional.

“The project has created a lot of excitement among the children and we are all grateful to David, Omar and the Care UK team at Colne View for their support.”
