An annual bike ride has raised more than £5,000 for charity.

Halstead-based Holmes and Hills Solicitors, in Trinity Street, has held the cycle ride for ten years and this year was raising money for Cancer Research UK.

A total of 290 cyclists took on the challenge on Sunday morning, choosing between the 11, 26 or 53 mile routes, to raise £5,315.

More money is expected to come in as people collect their sponsorship in.

Katie Chan, marketing assistant at the solicitors, said: “Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day.

“Rain had been forecast but it didn’t really rain.

“It was nice and cool to so perfect weather for cycling.

“We had lots of families taking part with children and 150 signed up for the longest distance.

“It was quite a sight when they set off.”
