A new clinic has been set up in Halstead Hospital in memory a popular village doctor.

Dr Nancy Salmon, who lived in Toppesfield, was a GP in Castle Hedingham but was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003.

Following a mastectomy, she suffered from lymphoedema, a swelling of the limbs or body because the body cannot drain fluid back into the circulatory system.

Her parents Jean and Chris Salmon established The Nancy Salmon Trust after she died in 2009 to improve access to treatment for patients living in North Essex.

After five years of fact finding, fundraising and raising awareness of the need for more lymphoedema services in the area, the trust has opened a clinic which will operate one day a week from Halstead Hospital.
