Tesco is selling land it once hoped to build a supermarket on.
The retail giant submitted a planning application to redevelop Halstead Football Club’s ground in Rosemary Lane in February 2005.
Under the deal, it would have built a new ground for the club in Sudbury Road.
However, Braintree Council’s old Halstead area committee rejected the plans in August 2005.
But a Tesco spokesman said this week: “We’re selling the land we own on Rosemary Lane as we no longer wish to pursue plans for a store there."
