A widow has paid tribute to her “generous, honest, moralistic” husband who was a popular bookies manager.
Jim Gregory, 63, was manager of Corals in Bridge Street, Halstead, for 14 years until last October when he became ill.
He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in April and died at Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, on April 20.
David Martin, who had worked at the bookies with Mr Gregory for four years, said: “He was amazing.
“He was a father figure to everyone who worked here and was the first person you went to if you had a problem."
