Colne Valley Railway was on the right track for a fun day with Thomas the Tank Engine.

The popular TV steam train was at the railway for two weekends and saw lots of people have rides on the blue train, as well as on the diesel railcar Daisy.

James was also on hand to entertain the children as he chuffed around the garden railway.

The trains were at the heritage railway, located in Castle Hedingham, for the weekend of June 14 and 15 and June 21 and 22.

Events officer Sally Halls said: “It was a great day and the rain didn’t stop people coming. We had about 800 people per day over the four days we had Thomas.

“Seeing the looks on the children’s faces when they first see Thomas or the Fat Controller is what it’s all about.”

Thomas is visiting the railway again on September 27 and 28 as well as October 4.
