Halstead public gardens were filled with the sounds of music yesterday.

More than 200 people flocked to enjoy the annual Beat a Fest musical event, which encourages youngsters to get up on the bandstand and play some songs in open mic style.

This was the fifth time the event has been staged and saw a lot of local talent performing.

Organiser Linda Hilton said: “It was a really good day. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves sitting out in the sunshine across the park. We had about fifteen performers which was great.

“It was a perfect day for it.”
