Ex-coach driver calls for resignations over Galleys Corner roundabout

Halstead Gazette: Ex-coach driver calls for resignations over Galleys Corner roundabout Ex-coach driver calls for resignations over Galleys Corner roundabout

An ex-coach driver is encouraging people to join him in calling for resignations after £640,000 was “wasted” on Braintree roundabout alterations.

Semi-retired Ken Fuller, 71, is demanding resignations following new signage and paint work completed last month at the congested Galleys Corner by the Highways Agency.

The High Garrett resident, whose driving job took him all over Europe, said: “What they have done is all wrong.

“It needs a flyover."

A Highways Agency spokesman said: “By widening parts of the roundabout and encouraging use of two lanes, traffic flow on the approach to and through the roundabout will improve.

“Routine road safety audits will be carried out to ensure the road is safe and any issues identified will be resolved.

“We are working with the local authorities to identify potential longer term solutions in this area.”

and have you seen what the idiots are doing on Notley Road by Godlings Way.

think they are putting a cycle way, they have dug out over the river bridge and are putting kerbs that severely reduce the width of the road, not sure if two trucks could pass

have said for ages it needs a flyover I know it would be pricey but would the council rather make the roundabout worse than it was or would they rather make it so that there are less accidents and less congested
