It may have been branded the worst road in Braintree, but the county council has no intention of making any “urgent” repairs.
Mum-of-four Janice Stanford-Eyre said Mountbatten Road is in such a poor state that drivers have to zig-zag along it to avoid all the cracks and craters, not to mention residents’ concern over its “sinking” centre.
The airport passenger service agent, 52, described the estate road as “absolutely awful” and a “hazard”.
An Essex Highways spokesman said: “Mountbatten Road was last inspected in February 2014 and a number of carriageway defects were recorded.
“Currently these road defects do not meet the criteria for urgent repair."
