Engineers’ dismay after £15,000 of goods stolen from van

Two self-employed refrigeration engineers fear they could be forced to change career after £15,000 worth of tools were stolen from their van.

Jason Collins and Justin Blackbourn, both 41, install, repair and maintain fridges at supermarkets, but the pair admit their futures are uncertain following the theft.

Their black Ford Transit Crew Cab was stolen from outside Justin’s house in Ramsey Road, Halstead, overnight between Monday and Tuesday.

Jason, who lives in Earls Colne, said: “They’re just the scum of the earth really. It’s our livelihood they’ve taken away from us."
