Residents have vowed to fight on as their attempts to have a controversial piece of land allocated as a village green continue.
Greenfields was given planning permission by Braintree Council to build two new affordable homes on land south of Oxford Meadow in Sible Hedingham last summer.
However, building work has yet to begin, with an application for village green status still pending after being submitted last April by a group opposed to the development.
Village green status, if awarded, would thwart any development plans.
Postwoman Lisa Babbs, who has spearheaded the campaign againt the homes, insists the application is still on the table and is expecting a public inquiry in the coming months.
