Scouts raise more than £700 for Canada expedition
3:00pm Sunday 5th January 2014 in News
A scout group has raised almost £800 ahead of an expedition next summer.
About 20 scouts and explorers from Halstead and Colne Valley District Scouts have been raising the cash.
The trip was originally planned to be to Hong Kong, but has now had to be changed to Newfoundland, off the coast of Canada.
Although the bulk of the cost will be met by parents, the group raised extra funds for trips by devising a quiz, which raised £780.
The group’s fundraising is continuing, with CDs, DVDs and old mobile phones being collected for recycling and Earls Colne Scout Group collecting clothing from the start of the new school term.
