Three scouts have been chosen to represent the district at the World Scout Jamboree in Japan.

Following a competitive selection process, Meg Hopkins of the Trinovantes Explorer Scout Unit in Earls Colne, Lily Maynard of the 1st Castle Hedingham Scouts and Isabel Page of the Majendie-Steeple Explorer Scout Unit in Castle Hedingham were delighted to be given a place at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree.

They were selected after undertaking tasks and challenges at the weekends in October and November.

Each scout has to raise £3,000 over the next 15 months to attend the Jamboree and fundraising got underway this month.

The scouts and their leaders spent the day packing bags in Sainsbury’s, Halstead, where they raised £463.
