A campaigner has welcomed a council’s involvement is pressing for answers about police numbers in Halstead.
Following a meeting earlier this month, Halstead Town Council has vowed to write to Inspector Mick Couldridge in an attempt to establish the truth behind a perception of dwindling officer numbers in the area.
Town clerk Mike Murkin said: “At the moment it’s a perception thing, it’s not evidence based, which is why we’re asking what the position is.”
The action has been welcomed by Halstead campaigner Simon Edney, who admitted to being disappointed by the response to a petition he launched asking for more resources across the county.
