Hospital finance boss quits over cancer waiting times scandal

Halstead Gazette: Hospital finance boss quits over cancer waiting times scandal Hospital finance boss quits over cancer waiting times scandal

AN executive director at Colchester hospitals trust has resigned over the cancer waiting times scandal.

Finance director Mike Baker carried out a flawed inquiry in 2012 over allegations that staff were bullied into changing patient records to meet government targets.

Mr Baker, 67, of West Bergholt, admitted he had “let people down”.

He had been due to retire but brought that forward after he read the report by the Care Quality Commission that sparked the cancer inquiry.

Can we expect the resignation of the other executive directors who were in post during the period of failure?

Rats deserting the already sunken ship. What a coward. He was due to retire but thought he would just hang on and milk the NHS just for as long as he could, then leave with a bigger pension pay off. What a bunch of parasites.I hope one day he has to suffer like many Colchester residents have had to at this dreadful hospital.

A hospital trust led by donkeys. The NHS is riddled with them. Happy to back slap each other when things seem to be going well but never show their heads when the incompetence levels like this are shown up.

Coutts has a lot of questions to answer on matters that have happened during his period of supposedly overseeing the hosiptal trust!!!

So depressing. You wonder whats going to happen next. People will be reluctant to go in Colchester Hospital and asking to go elsewhere. Morale of NHS staff must be rock bottom.

He is past normal retirement age so there should be no pay-off at all.
