It's the season for a pantomime and the Bocking Arts Theatre won’t disappoint.

The theatre, in Bocking End, Braintree, will be holding a series of festive performances of a much-loved family classic, The Wizard of Oz.

Musical fans should follow the yellow brick road to the theatre for the show, which will run from Thursday until December 24.

The family friendly performances include a professional cast starring Munchkins and Meerkats, Potty Patrick, the Starstruck Theatre School and The Weston School of Dance.

Shows will be held daily on Thursday and Friday at 5pm and Saturday until December 24 at 11am and 3pm, with doors opening half an hour before each performance.

Tickets are priced at £12.50 and £14.50 and are available from 01376 618189 with a credit card hotline accessible on 01279 815464.

Tickets are also available at wegottickets.com/thebocking or from Stationary Solutions in Fairfield Road, Braintree.

Well last year cost me £88 and had to leave early with lots of other parents, the show was delayed for an hour *BEWARE* make sure your children are impatient and are willing to sit around for an hour which seemed like aternity - it was no fun at all!

Strongly recommend Aladdin by Pantoloons at Braintree Arts Theatre 18th to 25th Janyary. Braintree's very own panto company now in their 30th year. Tickets start from £6.50 - raked seating, free parking, new professional theatre.

I've been to a few performances at The Bocking Arts Theatre/Institute and while each production is obviously different, the venue is constant. The heating is rarely on in the winter, so I'd advise wrapping up; the seating is all on one level, so kids especially are going to have a hard time seeing past the people in front of them and if you're in the first 4 or so rows you'll likely end up with a stiff neck; the chairs are not comfortable and I've found that you are generally overpaying for what you get. However, there have been performances that do make up for the discomfort, but I didn't go to this lot's panto last year so can't say if theirs is one of them...
