The owner of a crematorium has condemned proposals for a new home close to the site as “unsuitable and inappropriate”.
Applicant James Melia, 48, of Chappel, wants to extend a disused tower at Three Counties Crematorium, in Halstead Road, High Garrett, to create a three-bedroom house.
But the plans have been criticised because the house would share a common access with the crematorium.
Alan Lathbury, of Dignity PLC, which owns the crematorium, said: “The shared use of the access for the crematorium with a residential dwelling is wholly unsuitable and inappropriate."
