Colchester United host Barrow in a crucial League Two match at the JobServe Community Stadium this afternoon, kick-off 3pm.

The U's are looking for vital points to climb away from the relegation zone and host a Barrow side who lie one point - and one place - above them in the table.

From team news to key men and the referee, all you need to know can be found below.

The manager

Hayden Mullins ahead of his first home game as Colchester United interim head coach: “As head coach, there’s a lot of pressure on you.

“I had interim and caretaker roles at Watford and you can imagine the pressure we had there at the end of last season with the last two games being Man City and Arsenal.

“The intensified pressure there with all of the eyes of everyone on you is maximised.

“But the head coach role is a role that I’m comfortable doing and I would love to do in the future.

“It’s such a unique experience, in that situation when you’re living it and you’re experiencing it.

“It’s hard to explain it to people with the pressure and obviously, the Premier League is watched by so many people around the world.

“It’s a pressure situation but having lived it and been through it and experienced the games, it can only help.”

Key battle

Tommy Smith made his 400th career appearance in Colchester's 0-0 draw at Bolton Wanderers, on Good Friday.

The experienced defender is set to come up against Scott Quigley, who netted in Barrow's 2-1 win over Newport County in their last match and has scored 31 goals in 62 league starts for his side.

Last meeting

Colchester drew 1-1 with Barrow when the two sides met at Holker Street, last September. Noah Chilvers gave the U's a first-half lead with a wonder strike but Mike Jones' fine goal earned the hosts a draw.

Referee

John Busby has taken charge of 28 games so far mainly in League One and League Two, this season. He has shown 76 yellow cards and six red cards so far, in the current campaign.

Colchester are set to welcome back winger Callum Harriott from international duty today.

The experienced attacker has missed the U’s last four games having been on international duty with Guyana.

Kwame Poku could also be back, after returning from making his Ghana debut.

Probable U's side: Gerken, Welch-Hayes, Eastman, Smith, Clampin, Lapslie, Pell, Senior, Chilvers, Wiredu, Nouble.

Odds

Colchester are viewed at 8/5 by several bookmakers to secure a precious win today. Barrow are 19/10 to win by some bookmakers, while the draw is seen as 21/10.
