THERE aren't too many former Colchester United players who are currently plying their trade abroad.

But the U's former loanee Rhys Healey fits into that unique group.

And what's more, he is scoring goals and making quite an impression across the Channel.

Healey, who played for the U's during the 2014-15 season, is now plying his trade in France, for Toulouse.

The 25-year-old has made a positive impact for the Ligue 2 side since joining them from an undisclosed fee from MK Dons, last summer.

Healey made his Toulouse debut in September against Sochaux.

And a few days later, the former Cardiff City youngster scored his first goal in a 3-1 league win against Auxerre.

Healey has been in the goals again this weekend, scoring in Toulouse's 2-1 victory over Niort.

After joining Toulouse in the summer, Healey tweeted: ' Thank you all for your messages. I am delighted and excited to be playing for a big club like @toulousefc. I can't wait to play for my new colors #Forzaviola'.

The strike is certainly hitting the mark for the French club.

Healey joined Colchester on loan from Cardiff City in September, 2014.

He made 23 league and cup appearances for the U's under Tony Humes that season, scoring four times in U's colours including on his debut in a 3-0 win at Crewe Alexandra.

Indeed, Healey scored four times in his first six appearances for Colchester before eventually returning to parent club Cardiff in May, 2015.

He went on to play for the likes of Newport County and Torquay United on loan, before joining MK Dons on a permanent basis in August, 2018.

Healey was in fantastic form for the Dons last season in League One, scoring 11 times in 15 league starts for Russell Martin's men and scooping the club's Player of the Year award.

He eventually left for Toulouse for a fee of £450,000 in the summer and has seemingly not looked back, as he continues to hit the goal trail.
