WITHAM Town have launched a scheme to boost crowd numbers on match days at the Simarco Stadium and help their neighbours at Braintree Town at the same time.
For each Braintree fan who attends Witham Town first team or reserve matches at home, £2 will be given to Braintree Town.
Witham Town chairman Mark Nicholls said: “All football clubs are under increased financial pressure at this difficult time and the future of many clubs is in doubt.
"Football is a competitive world but we are all in this together.
"It is a time for unity among clubs as we face a common enemy.
"Football clubs have a duty to find ways of co-operating with each for mutual benefit.
"At Witham Town we have not heard of a similar scheme in place but we hope that this initiative will help both clubs and encourage Braintree fans to support their club by watching live football.
"Braintree Town have welcomed this proposal.
"Our next home match is on Tuesday October 27 against local rivals Heybridge Swifts.
"Kick-off is at 7.30pm and all are welcome."
Entrance to league matches at Witham costs £8 for adults.
