EFL clubs are not expected to hear about a start date for next season until later this month.

Clubs are believed to be choosing the next campaign in either late August or early September.

But former Southend United boss Barry Fry, who is now director of football at Peterborough United, has revealed clubs will not be told what is happening until the end of July.

“It’s incredibly frustrating, but we’ve now been told we won’t hear anything about a start date until July 24," said Fry.

“The Premier League and the FA are still talking with the EFL about cups and all sorts.
