THEO Robinson could have played his last game for Colchester United.

The 31-year-old striker, who is the U's leading goalscorer this season with 12 goals, has hinted that he has played his final game for the club following his loan spell from Southend United.

Robinson's exit is yet to be confirmed by Colchester but on social media, he has sent them best wishes for the future.

Colchester are waiting to hear from the EFL whether or not they can resume their League Two play-off push next month, after the season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But if the season does restart, it seems as though John McGreal's side may be without the services of striker Robinson, who has made 36 appearances for the U's since joining them on loan from Southend, in August.

Robinson's initially joined Colchester on loan from the Blues, last August.

And when that came to an end, he agreed another loan spell at the JobServe Community Stadium until the end of the season.

The current League Two season would have been over at this point, had it not been suspended due to the Covid-19 virus.

Robinson wrote on Twitter: "Just like to say thank you to @ColU_Official for time had there on loan staff and teammates been a pleasure in short space of time thanks to the fans brilliant as always from day one all the best in future #playoffs #topgoalscorer"

Robinson's contract at Southend is due to expire, this summer and it is unclear where his future lies from here.

Colchester recently announced that four of their senior players would not be re-signed by the club when their contracts expire, next month.

Skipper Luke Prosser, Ryan Jackson, Frank Nouble and Brandon Comley are all set to move on, as the U's attempt to deal with the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic.

A dozen academy-based players including Cameron James and Louis Dunne have also been told they will not have their current contracts renewed.
