COLCHESTER United produced an impressive all-round display to win 2-1 at Salford City.

John McGreal's side moved up to sixth spot in League Two, after goals from Kwame Poku and Callum Harriott sealed their win at Moor Lane despite Ash Hunter's consolation just before half-time.

It was a big win for the U's on the road in difficult conditions and helped them bounce back, after two straight defeats.

Here the Gazette's Colchester United reporter Jonathan Waldron rates the players' performances, following an excellent away win.

DEAN GERKEN 8

Made a great point-blank save to deny Wilson and had little chance with the goal

RYAN JACKSON 8

U’s right-back had a good battle with Hunter and largely defended well

OMAR SOWUNMI 9

Outstanding; made a vital clearance to deny Thomas-Asante and read the game superbly

U’s man of the match. U’s skipper produced an excellent defensive display

Provided the assist for Harriott’s strike was caught out a little for Salford’s goal

Never stopped working and scrapping in the U’s midfield in tough conditions. Booked

BEN STEVENSON 8

Provided the assist for Poku’s superb strike and showed plenty of endeavour

KWAME POKU 8

Scored a superb solo goal on his return to the side in a right-sided role

CALLUM HARRIOTT 8

Took his goal extremely well and worried the Salford defence before going off injured

THEO ROBINSON 8

Seemed to enjoy a rare opportunity to start alongside Norris in U’s attack

LUKE NORRIS 8

Showed good hold up play throughout and produced a tireless display up front
