COLCHESTER United head coach John McGreal praised the desire of his players after they came from behind to beat leaders Swindon Town.

The U's won 3-1 at the JobServe Community Stadium, after a late brace by Theo Robinson sealed their victory.

Luke Norris had earlier come off the bench to equalise against his old club, after Diallang Jaiyesimi had given Swindon the lead, three minutes after half-time following a goal-less first half.

McGreal said: "You can't knock the desire and work-rate of the players when they sense they've got an opportunity to go and win a game of football.

"They always want to do that and this was a different win.

"I always say that there are 46 different ways of winning a game of football and getting those three goals in that last 35-40 minutes was proof of that.

"They were on top in the first half and then we went a goal down early in the second half was a blow.

"Dean then kept us in it again to stop it to going to two and then we had to make a change.

“The boys are as high as a kite in there, knowing that we’ve beaten a top, top team.

“We’ve been able to do the double over them which is great."

Colchester's substitutes made a big difference when they came on in the second half, with Norris, Courtney Senior and Frank Nouble all playing their part in the win.

“We made a couple of changes which gave us a good boost and I just felt the physicality helped us," said McGreal.

"The changes happened and it's no disrespect to the players who came off.

"I kept saying to the subs 'be ready to go and make an impact' and they've been able to do that.

“We can take great encouragement from that last half hour.

“We could have caved in but we didn’t and Dean (Gerken) didn’t cave in and that gave us confidence to get the equaliser.

“You’ve got to give Swindon a ton of credit.

“We know they’re a top team – we were hoping it would be a bit of a football match and they’ve definitely edged it and we felt we had to change things.

“Dean (Gerken) has done brilliantly well and made a couple of great saves to keep it to one goal and I just felt time was running out."
