A FANTASTIC finish.

Callum Harriott scored what could be Colchester United's goal of the season against Macclesfield Town, on Saturday afternoon.

And it certainly had Kevin Phillips purring on Saturday night.

The former Sunderland and England striker, a pundit on Quest’s EFL highlights show, was impressed by the winger's spectacular long-range strike against the Silkmen, at the JobServe Community Stadium, this season.

Phillips said: “This is a fantastic finish.

“He knows where he’s hitting that, far corner and it was tremendous."

Meanwhile, Colchester boss John McGreal has revealed he had to take midfielder Ben Stevenson off in the second half against Macclesfield.

Stevenson was replaced by Brandon Comley on the hour mark, in the U's 2-1 win.

McGreal said: “Ben had a particularly heavy whack in the ribs, just before half-time.

“We thought that he might be able to get through.

“He was saying he was fine but you could just see that his movements got less and less, so it was ideal for Coms (Brandon Comley) to come on and fill that void."

Courtney Senior missed out on a possible return against Macclesfield due to a heavy bout of tonsillitis, while striker Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe was also missing after being laid low by the flu.

Attacker Michael Fernandes rolled his ankle playing for the under-23s at Cardiff City last weekend and is awaiting for the results of a scan on the injury.
