BILLERICAY Town Ladies booked their place in the second round of the Women’s FA Cup thanks to a 13-0 mauling of Woodlands.

Having made the trip to Derbyshire, Billericay turned on the style as goals from Esme Lancaster, Therese Addison, Lindsey Morgan, along with a Lucy Jones brace, put the visitors 5-0 up inside 16 minutes.

The second half saw Hannah Smith come off the bench to bag two goals, while Addison completed her hat-trick.

Zoe Rushen, Jay Blackie and Karissa Rodney also netted, along with an own goal, to complete the rout and head coach Jon Duckett was overjoyed with the victory.

“Our girls really applied themselves well in the first 15 minutes of the game and already put the game to bed,” said Duckett.

“Great bits of attacking play got us goals early.

“It was great to see the girls enjoying themselves in the final third.

“Credit to Woodlands for keeping on going.

“The girls came on strong in the second half and it was nice to see a couple of the younger girls come on.

“All in all, it was a good day’s work in cold and wet conditions.”

Billericay will host Gillingham Ladies in the next round.

“Gillingham are in mid-table in the Southern Premier, so it’s a game for us to embrace,” added Duckett.

“It’s a free-hit for us because the pressure is on them.

“We will go into the game with the underdog mentality and give it a good go to get into the third round.”
