SOUTHEND United boss Sol Campbell was happy to see his side play without fear in tonight's 3-1 win against AFC Wimbledon.
The victory, in the Leasing.com Trophy, was the first Campbell has secured in charge of the Shrimpers.
And Campbell was full of praise for the performance.
"We passed with no fear and supported each other to make sure there were angles," said Campbell.
"We took the handbrake off and there was a marked difference from the weekend too.
"Yes people can say it was a dead rubber but for me we had proved the guys can pass and want to keep the ball.
"But the most pleasing thing was the passing and there being no fear."
The victory came just three days after Blues had been knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league Dover Athletic.
And Campbell was pleased with the Shrimpers' reaction to the setback.
"We got the FA Cup knock out out of our system and they had to show to the fans as well," said the former Arsenal defender.
"There’s a lot of things going on but the lads played a really good game.
"We can’t be frightened to play in the pockets and ask questions of the opposition.
"We can’t have fear and we can’t worry about where we are in the League either."
