COLCHESTER United captain Luke Prosser says he and his team-mates must dust themselves down and focus on the positives after bowing out of the FA Cup.

The U's were swept aside 2-0 by League One Coventry City in Saturday's first-round tie at the JobServe Community Stadium.

However, Prosser believes his side still have plenty to be upbeat about, sitting just outside the League Two play-offs and with a Carabao Cup quarter-final looming at Manchester United.

They also have a Leasings.com Trophy derby against old foes Ipswich Town to prepare for on Tuesday night.

"We've done very well this year," said the centre-half.

"We've picked up in the league and produced good performances in our last couple of games, scoring lots of goals.

"We've got the United game to look forward to and we'll obviously be going for a win against Ipswich.

"It's been a very good start to the season but it's just a pity it wasn't to be in the FA Cup.

"It's such a massive competition and one we wanted to do well in, but it wasn't our day."

Colchester saw their hopes of victory go up in smoke after conceding twice inside half an hour, though Jordan Shipley and Sam McCallum.

"We had a mountain to climb, after going two-down in the first half," added Prosser.

"Coventry are a very good team.

"We knew that before the game and knew they liked to get the ball down and play.

"We looked a yard off the pace until the second half, when we matched them up and had a few more chances.

"But they were the better side by far.

"They dominated the first half and fully deserved their win.

"Their movement was very good.

"They got behind us and we didn't deal with them well enough, conceding two poor goals.

"We didn't have enough either going forward or defensively and in both areas we were poor."
