BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent pair Joe Yaxley and Charlie Lindoe have signed on for another season at the Taydal Stadium.

Yaxley has been retained for another year, after joining the club last term.

Lindoe, meanwhile, is a talented youngster who will be stepping up from the reserves.

"Yax is a great lad and somebody who has taken time to settle and allow his true personality to come out," said R's manager Tom Rothery.

“In training, the lad's unreal and he’s not always been able to produce that on matchdays.

"However, there’s no doubting his ability and last season, towards the end, he began to get closer to what he’s capable of.

"I still think there’s plenty more to come and hopefully he can show that this season."

Lindoe has been given the chance to move up from the reserves after excelling in pre-season.

He was part of the club's recent, successful Thurlow Nunn League under-18s side and will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of current first-teamer Jordan Barnett.

“Lindoe is a really technical player," added Rothery.

"He’s exciting to watch and has always been somebody that’s impressed me.

"Charlie would be honest enough to admit his commitment is the only thing that’s held him back so far.

"I watched him for the reserves in their first pre-season game and he was outstanding - a constant threat and enjoyable to watch.

"He’s come back into pre-season sharp and looks to have really matured.

"We had a chat and he’s played in the last two games and also out of position, which has given him another layer to his talent.

"He deserves to come in and try to cement a place in the team and squad, which I obviously believe he can do.

"Massive credit to the reserve side, who have given Charlie the platform to prove he can step up and got him playing well. That’s another pleasing part of this."

Regent play their first BetVictor Isthmian League premier division fixture this Saturday, away to Margate.
