STANWAY Rovers boss Danny Slatter has added two more signings to his new-look squad.

The Hawthorns outfit have recruited striker Andrew Wood, from Stowmarket Town, and Long Melford midfielder Scott Sloots.

The duo become Slatter’s tenth and 11th summer signings respectively, ahead of his debut Thurlow Nunn League premier division campaign in charge of Rovers.

“Woody is a big target man but don’t underestimate him with the ball at his feet," he said.

"He’s very comfortable on the deck, as well.

“I remember playing against him a few seasons back and I recall how good he was back then.

"Hughesy (Craig Hughes) and I were always trying to kick him and put him off his game, so there’s a compliment.

"He’s a great lad and fits into our mould nicely.”

Sloots also joins the club after a signing terms from Long Melford.

Slatter was equally delighted with his latest signing and said: “I’ve just signed Scott, from Long Melford.

"He's a hard-working, tenacious midfielder who will add competition for places in the midfield area.

"I’m delighted to have him at the club.”

Slatter will look to run the rule over his squad throughout the pre-season fixtures, with Wood and Sloots going straight into the squad for Rovers’ first warm-up game against Harwich and Parkeston on Tuesday evening.
