IPSWICH Town were unable to stand in the way of Sheffield United's ambitions to regain their place in the Premier League.

The Blades knew that victory over the already-relegated Blues would be enough to effectively seal their promotion from the Championship and did that with a 2-0 victory.

Chris Wilder's side began the game in second, three points clear of third-placed Leeds while also boasting a superior goal difference with two matches remaining.

The Blades took the lead after 24 minutes through Scott Hogan as the forward got himself in front of the defender at the near post to turn in Jack Connell's cross.

The Blades doubled their lead after 70 minutes thanks to a towering header from a corner by O'Connell.

The defender arrived late in the box to rise highest and power a header in off the bar from John Fleck's corner to impose a 25th league defeat of the campaign for Paul Lambert's team.
