BRIGHTLINGSEA Regent bid farewell to a fans' favourite tomorrow when Aaron Condon plays his last game for the club before moving to Sussex.

The popular striker is coming to the end of his second spell at the Taydal Stadium, having rejoined in November after a stint at Bostik League division north side Coggeshall Town.

Prior to that he spent two seasons with Regent, plundering an impressive 51 goals in 103 appearances, and was a key part of the club winning promotion to the Bostik League premier division in 2016-17.

"Aaron has been brilliant in both his spells at the club," said Brightlingsea chairman Terry Doherty.

"He's a fans' favourite and will be sorely missed.

"As well as being a great player, he's been lovely to have around the club as a person.

"We wish him and his girlfriend, Victoria, the best of luck for the future as they start their new life together down in Hastings."

Regent, 14th in the table, bring the curtain down on their Bostik League premier division campaign with a home match against Enfield Town tomorrow (kick-off 3pm).

They have already achieved their highest-ever league finish.

Beforehand they will be announcing their supporters' player-of-the-year and there will also be other presentations, including one for Jake Gould, who has made over 400 appearances for the R's.

Meanwhile, Doherty confirmed that things are looking rosier in terms of the club's financial footing heading into next season.

In February, the R's chairman spoke at a fans' forum and reluctantly said the budget would have to be cut - unless fresh investment could be found.

He hopes to be able to confirm more details next week.

"What I can say is that Colin Gould (defender Josh Gould's dad), who is managing director of Brittau LTD and a main club sponsor, has been doing an excellent job in drumming up support to help secure our immediate future in the Bostik League premier division," said Doherty.

"The club can't thank him enough for his efforts so far and the local businessmen who have got behind him.

"In addition, Tarmac have agreed to sponsor the first-team kit for a further two years, which is brilliant.

"(Treasurer) Phil Calver negotiated the extension to that deal."

Brightlingsea have also been pushing their 12th Man scheme.

This is an initiative whereby supporters make a financial contribution to help the club finance new signings.

More than £5,000 has been raised towards the playing budget since being set up in November 2017.

The minimum donation is £10 per month and anyone wishing to contribute via online banking can use the following details:
