DANNY Slatter has been appointed as the new manager of Stanway Rovers.

The Essex Senior League outfit were on the lookout for a new boss after parting company with Terry Spillane in late March.

Player Slatter was given the reins on a temporary basis until the end of the season and immediately indicated he wanted the role full-time.

Now he has been officially appointed on a permanent basis, taking on the challenge of leading Rovers out of the Essex Senior League – step five of the non-league pyramid – into the Bostik League.

The Hawthorns outfit are 15th in the table and have one game left this season - away to Hullbridge Sports on Saturday.
