AN England youth international featured for Colchester United under-23s in their 2-1 win at Bristol City this afternoon.

Defender Danny Collinge, who has previously played for German club VfB Stuttgart in Bundesliga II, started out at MK Dons and has represented England at under-18 level.

The 20-year-old centre-back played 90 minutes for Kevin Horlock's side in their Professional Development League Two win at the SGS College WISE Campus ground, in Failand.

The first chance fell to City on four minutes as a ball over the top by Korey Smith found Sam Bell who headed the ball down for Tom Richards, but he put his chance wide.

However it was to be the U’s who took an early lead after seven minutes from the unlikely source of defender Aaron Barnes.

Half-time arrived with the visitors still ahead, although eight minutes before the break the home team had to replace New Zealander keeper, Stefan Marinovic with James Carey.

Just before the hour mark, a double City change saw Smith and Marcus Day replaced by Ryley Towler and Tommy Conway and just after the hour mark, Henry Ochieng replaced Noah Chilvers for the away team.

However the hosts were back on level terms with a goal by Tom Richards, which saw him capitalise on a defensive error just after the hour mark.

Soon after, Arjanit Krasniqi replaced Dean Ager and ten minutes later and Towler was booked.

But the U’s grabbed their winner with seven minutes remaining through Ryan Clampin, who netted with the aid of a deflection.

The result sees the U’s record a double over the Robins having beaten them 3-2 at Florence Park, in November.
