COLCHESTER United have made their second signing of the transfer window after signing midfielder Ben Stevenson on a permanent basis.

The 21-year-old, who spent six months on loan at the U's last season, has signed a contract at the JobServe Community Stadium until the summer of 2021 after leaving Wolves.

Stevenson made 13 appearances for Colchester during his loan spell at the club, last season.

The former Coventry City youth-team player scored twice in that time before returning to Wolves, at the end of the campaign.

Stevenson has been playing his football in Spain over the past four months on loan at Wolves' partner club FC Jumilla.

Now he is back to bolster the U's in their League Two promotion push and follows hot on the heels of the arrival of Abo Eisa on loan from Shrewsbury Town, which was sealed yesterday.

Colchester director of football Tony Humes told the U's website: "We are delighted to have secured Ben on a long term deal.

"He is someone who fitted very well into the squad last season and will I'm sure fit in well again now.

"He, and Abo, will offer us different attacking options and that can only benefit the club during the remainder of the season and beyond."
