THE juniors of Gosfield Lake Golf Club were victorious by the narrowest of margins against Rayleigh in the Essex County Youth Shield.
With one match already won against Burnham-on-Crouch the Gosfield club were hoping to build on that in the league as they hosted Rayleigh.
Gosfield Lake were quickly two down when Joe Richards lost 6&4 and Aaron Smith lost 2&1, however, the fightback by the other three players began when Ben Murray delivered a 5&4 win.
Piers Halley then had a comfortable 6&4 win to tie the match and even though the last game was close, Shaw Radley held his nerve to win two late holes to close it out 3&1 for a 3-2 victory for Gosfield.
Gosfield's remaining matches are against Frinton and Colne Valley.
