HALSTEAD Road Runners' Andy Owen continued to stake his claim for the club's annual International Runner of the Year award as he competed in New Zealand's Paihia Off-Road Half Marathon.

The 13.1-mile off-road course took in stunning scenery including the Waitangi and Harura bush trails, with Owen finishing in one hour 38 minutes.

Closer to home, Stewart Ellis' recent form continues to impress as he ran in the in the second race of the popular Friday Five Summer series.

Starting at Kirton, Felixstowe, Ellis finished the hilly course in 30m 27s to claim 28th place overall and fifth in his age category.

Charlotte May along with Chris and Carol Hill ran in the inaugural Dedham Vale Vineyard 10k, a unique event that offers competitors wine tasting along the course and at the finish line.

Seasoned Park Runner Julia Woolnough chose the Harwich event and finished the five kilometre course in 25m 57s.

Rounding off yet another hectic weekend for Halstead's Road Runners, Marathon legend Andy Wilmot tackled the Stour Valley Marathon in beautiful conditions, finishing in 5h 7m.
