Former Hedingham School student Joe Nourse had a record-breaking ending to his summer athletics season as the 18-year-old from Halstead shattered two Braintree and District Athletic Club records in five days.
Nourse (pictured below) took part in a British Milers Club (BMC) competition at Eltham and set a new club best in finishing in eighth spot over the mile distance.
Nourse said: “This was my first BMC and my aim was to break the club record of four minutes 40.3 seconds.
“I ran four minutes 35.13 seconds and I would like to take this opportunity to thank my coach (Simon Mennell), who also deserves a lot of credit for all of the hard work he puts in.”
Nourse also did well in the South of England Inter County Championships when he represented Essex in the 2,000 metre steeplechase In achieving a Braintree record time of 6m 28.93s, Nourse gained third place.
