Halstead Town manager Mark Benterman has been very clear in his instructions to his players ahead of their Thurlow Nunn League division one trip to March Town United tomorrow.

Having seen his team open their season with a 1-1 draw against Leiston Reserves and a 3-1 win against Cornard United, the Humbugs boss is demanding nothing less than a point from their game at March and preferably three.

He said that is the mentality that his team must have this year if they are to realise their dream of getting promoted to the premier division.

He said: “Four points from six has been a superb start, but we now cannot lose at March.

“That is the mentality we have to have as March were a team who were up there last year and will be up there again.

“Three points would be fantastic but a point is the minimum we must aim for.”

Benterman said he would have some selection dilemmas as he had Dave Morgan, James Murray and James Regan all returning for the game after the influential trio all missed the opening two games.

Following late goal drama in the opener against Leiston, when Benterman admitted his team were a bit overwhelmed by a crowd of more than 200 at Rosemary Lane, Halstead rose to the challenge of their derby clash against Cornard.

The Town boss added: “We weren’t quite there for the game against Leiston but we were superb against Cornard. We handled the occasion better and we did our job properly.”
