All lanes on the A127 have reopened this morning following yesterday's long delays.
The machinery which had broken down on the Londonbound carriageway has now been moved and means both lanes are open to traffic this morning.
The machine, which was being used for overnight resurfacing, was stranded near Rayleigh Weir throughout yesterday, forcing road bosses to close a lane throughout the day.
It caused long delays throughout Rayleigh and on the A127 as far back as the Tesco roundabout in Westcliff.
Some motorists faced delays of up to an hour.

Despite the reopening of the lane on the Londonbound carriageway, traffic is said to be beginning to build between Rayleigh Weir and Fairglen Interchange.
Both Essex Highways and Eurovia Contracting - which is in charge of resurfacing works on the A127 - apologised yesterday for the problems caused.
