A fire in a bungalow roof in Benfleet has now been extinguished.
Essex Fire Service say three people have been left in the care of the ambulance service after suffering smoke inhalation.
Crews from Basildon and Rayleigh Weir were called to tackle the blaze in Greenways around 4pm today.
They arrived to find most of the roof on fire and with black smoke billowing out.

The fire was extinguished by 4.45pm.
An investigation has found the blaze started accidentally.
