FORMAL plans to build more than 200 homes on an empty car park in Basildon town centre.
The 233 homes, submitted by Sempra Homes, will be built on car park 14, if plans are given the green light.
Almost all of the homes will be apartments, ranging from five to 10 storey buildings.
Manager of Sempra Homes Melanie Keys said: “This is an exciting project for Sempra where we will be delivering much needed affordable homes in a well-connected town centre location.

"The site has been disused for some time now and the addition of these new homes will improve the street scene and provide more housing opportunities to our residents and key workers to get a foot on the property ladder.
“Local jobs will also be created through the construction process, contributing to the local economy.”
