A school has been forced to shut after being made aware of another Covid-19 case, leaving an additional number of staff in self-isolation.

The Bromfords School in Wickford will be closed from today (November 25), with bosses launching their remote learning plan for pupils.

Initially, the closure will be in place until Friday (November 27), although the school are set to again contact parents to confirm arrangements from Monday (November 30).

Families were advised on Monday that the school would be launching contingency plans for a year group closure, but after another positive case and an additional number of staff being required to self-isolate it has been advised they temporarily shut.

The closure is set to allow the school to undertake a deep clean and prepare to re-open.

Each year group has its own timetable for remote learning, which you can find by visiting the Bromford's website.

BREAKING: School shuts as 'large number of staff' self-isolate

School bubble told to self-isolate after 'pupil' tests positive for Covid-19

In a letter home to parents yesterday, headteacher Neil Dunn, said: "Further to my letter yesterday advising you of the need to implement our contingency plan for year group closure we have subsequently recorded a further positive case and had an additional number of staff required to self-isolate.

"Through consultation today with Public Health England Health Protection Team, Essex Local Authority and our local Health and Safety Consultant we have received guidance that requires us to move to our remote learning plan for all our students from Wednesday November 25.

"Initially this will be in place until Friday November 27 and we will contact you again to confirm arrangements from Monday November 30.

"The initial period of remote learning, Wednesday to Friday, will allow the school to undertake a deep clean and prepare to re-open.

"It remains very important that should any member of our student community test positive during this period of remote learning that we are notified immediately.

"This will allow the school to understand our current situation and direct students who may be required to self-isolate.

"I appreciate this is a difficult time for all and thank you for your continued support in our efforts to keep all in our school community safe."
