Homes were left without power after an early morning fire took hold of a Basildon property.

Two fire crews from Basildon Fire Station took to the scene in Gaynesford at 6.52am yesterday (November 22).

Electricity cut out along the road, and potentially several others, as a result of the blaze which had broken out in the utility room.

Teams worked to control the fire and had thankfully managed to extinguish the fire by 7.46am.

A resident was however left in the care of the ambulance service after suffering from smoke inhalation.

An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “Two crews from Basildon Fire Station were called to a house fire in Gaynesford, Basildon at 6.52am on November 22.

“On arrival, crews reported that there was a fire in a utility room and worked to extinguish it by 7.46am.

“A resident was left in the care of the ambulance service after suffering smoke inhalation.”
