A spokesman from south Essex College, said: "We have had a number of cases of covid reported since Friday.
"Over the weekend all students that are part of the class bubbles have been contacted and asked to self-isolate and relevant areas of the college have been deep cleaned.
"We have worked hard to follow government advice and guidance at this time to ensure the college/university centre remains a safe place for students and staff.
"One of the many measures we have put in place is the creation of class bubbles to minimise contact within the college and reduce the risk of contamination across the wider college community.
"In view of this we are confident that students and staff who are not part of this affected bubble can remain in college at this time.
"Updates will be posted on our website should the situation change."
