The first death associated with Covid-19 has been reported in Southend.
In a daily briefing at Southend Council, it was confirmed there is one death which can be "directly associated" to coronavirus in the town.
It is not yet known the age or gender of the deceased.
There are currently eight positive cases of the virus in Southend.
In a report sent to councillors, which the Echo has seen, bosses state that the number of cases will likely increase.
It read: "In Southend there are eight positive cases to date, but we anticipate that this will increase in line with other parts of the UK.
"We have been advised that there is now one confirmed case of mortality directly associated with Covid-19."
